The Mocky Horror Picture Show sends up "Mac and Me"

Tickets are $14 and available at the box office and online.

DALLAS – Comedy troupe The Mocky Horror Picture Show will focus its talents Thursday, Oct. 6, on making fun of the 1988 family movie “Mac and Me,” often referred to as a rip off of “E.T.” and considered by many to be one of the worst films ever made. The comedy show begins at 9:15 p.m. at Texas Theatre upstairs, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd., and tickets are $14 and available at TheTexasTheatre.com.

Mocky Horror is thought to be Dallas’ only live, interactive, movie-mocking comedy show, and the troupe includes Danny Gallagher of Addison, Liz Barksdale of Irving and Albie Robles of Irving. The group of comedians takes a classic, horrible movie and makes jokes at the screen. The audience also gets special prompts that appear on the screen during the film so they can also yell scripted responses and perform certain actions to help make fun of the movie.

Each person attending the special screening of “Mac and Me” will receive a bag of mystery props to use during the movie and some “Mac and Me” swag.

“Mac and Me” stars Christine Ebersole and Jonathan Ward and centers on a mysterious alien creature who escapes NASA agents and begins a friendship with a young boy who uses a wheelchair. Critics and the public hated the movie, and the dud is often remembered for its horrendous puppetry and blatant McDonald’s and Coca-Cola product placements.
