DALLAS - Dallas VideoFest's Curated Film Series continues with KING JUDITH, the metaphysical ghost-story drama by DVF alumnus Richard Bailey of Lake Highlands. The film screens at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Angelika Film Center - Dallas, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane in Mockingbird Station.

KING JUDITH is the fictional story of a detective named Miriam, who investigates the disappearance of three women. The missing women are academics who'd been studying Lady of the Lake stories across the American South. The case turns dreamy and strange when Miriam starts having visions of Judith, a powerful ghost of the lake.

It stars Nicole Fancher as Miriam. Others in the cast are Rhonda Boutté as Doyenne, Emily Ernst as Judith, Joanna Schellenberg as Sister Woman and Jenny Ledel as Catherine.

"Richard Bailey's new feature stretches the boundary of traditional narrative in our Curated Film Series," said Bart Weiss, VideoFest's founder and artistic director. "We show new films that allow new audiences to explore beyond the mainstream."

Tickets are $10 each for adults. They are available at https://videofest.org/tickets.

Bailey's other films include A SHIP OF HUMAN SKIN, a feature available in wide release through Gravitas Ventures. In addition to VideoFest, his films have been shown at Alchemy Moving Image, Anthology Film Archives, Arizona Underground, AVIFF Cannes, Berlin Revolution, Black Maria, Blow-Up (Chicago Art House), KERA (PBS), Proyector International, SENE, SXSW and other festivals.

KING JUDITH is the second film featured in the Curated Film Series. The series showcases films that would have been featured in VideoFest's long-weekend festivals in years past, but event organizers opted recently to end the longer festivals.
