Meghan Cone, interviewed in our article “Programme of Excellence,” grew up on a farm in Iowa and was one of four co-valedictorians in her graduating class. After high school, she attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth to complete her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science. Later she worked as a local television news reporter and producer in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska for about five years. During that time, she interviewed a diverse number of people including billionaire Warren Buffett and musician Tommy Lee.
Now Mrs. Cone is the assistant director of communications for Frisco ISD where she primarily supports media relations and external communications to parents, community members and the public and has been working for the school district since 2012. Mrs. Cones loves her role promoting Frisco ISD’s mission to know every student by name and need and is moved by the Frisco ISD community. “I’m inspired by the thought and care that go into decisions to move our district forward and provide students with the best educational experience possible.” Mrs. Cones believes it is a privilege to work for Frisco ISD. “There are so many positive stories to tell and educators making a tremendous impact, we are lucky to be a part of this school district and community.”
Besides her elaborate career, Mrs. Cones enjoys spending time with her husband, Kirby, and her two young kids Alden, who is three years old, and her one-year-old Audrey. When Mrs. Cones has free time, she enjoys going out to local restaurants and watching local RoughRiders games.
