Aunt Ann’s Texas Sheet Cake

INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp(s) baking soda
- 2 tsp(s) salt
- 1 cup(s) butter or margarine
- 4 tbsp(s) cocoa
- 1 cup(s) water
- 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp(s) vanilla
CREAM
- 1/2 cup(s) butter or margarine
- 4 tbsp(s) cocoa
- 6 tbsp(s) buttermilk
- 1 pound box of powdered sugar
- 1 cup(s) chopped pecans
- 1 tbsp(s) vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Melt the butter, cocoa and water together in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil. Pour the hot mixture over the flour mixture and add the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Mix the ingredients well.
- Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 11x17-inch sheet pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
- While it is baking, make the icing by bringing the butter, cocoa and buttermilk to a boil before removing it from the heat. Add sugar, nuts and vanilla and mix well. Ice the cake while it is still warm.
