Guests from Tanzania coming to Frisco…
Next Tuesday, I’ll have the honor of entertaining the President and Vice President of the Tanzania Football (Soccer) Federation. They’re coming to Frisco to meet with my company, Playbook Management International. We look forward to showing them our great city. They’ll stay at the Westin Stonebriar and we’ll have meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ll take them to Randy’s Steakhouse for an authentic Texas Steak. If you’re not familiar with Tanzania, it’s the #1 Tourist Destination in Africa. It’s on the coast of East Africa and features the best safaris in Africa (thousands of Americans go on safari’s in Tanzania every year), the Zanzibar, Kilamajaro, Serengeti, etc. I’ll have an opportunity to visit Tanzania in the near future but this trip will be about showing them Texas style hospitality and showcasing our great city and all the amazing sports & entertainment facilities that we have. Looking forward to the meetings and visit. Thanks for checking in.
Sincerely,
Hitch

HERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS THE MEDIA TYPES ARE SAYING ABOUT THE FOX AND THE BIRD:
“What is this hope I hear on their voices? Even when singing songs of heartbreak, there is an ever-present optimism and peace about them. They sing of home, and I feel at home.”
– Sarah Crisman, Pegasus News
“…a wide range of instrumentation and a beautiful, organic sound…”
– Pete Freedman, Dallas Observer
Background from their website:
“Fox & the Bird is an eclectic folk ensemble with rotating instruments and vocalists. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, they have been pinned as alt-country, folk rock, neo-folk or low-fi Americana, but regardless of the genre, the group focuses on telling expressive stories through image driven and culturally explorative songs.
The arrangements utilize changing dynamics, unique instrumentation and layered harmonies to create songs you could sing along with the first time you hear them. Fox and the Bird is a family of song writers from assorted musical backgrounds who come together to create music that is both intricate and simple.
The ingredients include traditional folk instruments like the mandolin, violin, guitar and banjo, as well as marriaci influences of trumpet and accordion, sparse, intentioned percussion, and a small choir of vocalists. The layered vocal harmonies and shifty musical structures help create a sound that is collective and relevant.
The band’s roots grow out of the home-grown Dallas folk scene, beginning in a living room, and the members consciously bring a uniquely Dallas-perspective to their work, focusing on the idea of “home” and the human ideal of belonging to a particular place.”

Frisco is an Global Sports & Entertainment Brand
I’ve just returned from France which was a great business trip. It’s always fun to visit another country and experience their culture, people, food, et al. I had meetings with high level Executives in French Football (Soccer). Football (Soccer) is the biggest sport (actually the biggest thing) in France. The interesting thing is that as I’m traveling the world for my PMI business, I tell people I’m from Frisco, Texas and they are all familiar with the city. In large part, due to FC Dallas & Pizza Hut Park. But it’s amazing how sports & entertainment leaders are not only familiar with the city and its vision but they’re very complimentary of the city, people and facilities.
One example from this trip, I met with the President of one of the biggest soccer clubs in France who visited Frisco, Texas on the recommendation of soccer leaders in America. So he stayed in Frisco, visited Pizza Hut Park, shopped in the Frisco shops, ate in local restaurants and only had positive comments to share about his experience.
Guess what, Frisco; we’re a growing global “brand” and the perception is that we’re a great dynamic city that others should visit to learn more about it. Let’s keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Hitch
Next stop, France…
While this is not specific to Frisco Sports & Entertainment, I wanted to let you know that I’m going to France on Sunday for 4 days so I won’t have a Sports & Entertainment Blog for Frisco Style until late next week. That said, I invite you to follow my travels to France (and all my future travels) at the PMI Travel blog on my website. Visit http://www.playbookmanagement.com/_blog/PMI_Travel_Blog or www.playbookmanagement.com then click on the PMI Travel Blog. My company PMI is Frisco based but I do business around the world. First PMI visit to France. Looking forward to it. Thanks for checking in.

PS: Good Luck to all the Frisco Teams tonight who have games or who host events. Lots going on in Frisco. Also, congrats to Lochrann’s Originals for a great event last Thursday night. The Weekly Music Series continues to grow every week.
Welcome to the Neighborhood…
Frisco will soon have a new Professional team. The NBA D League (Development League) is coming to Dr Pepper Arena as an expansion team. As a matter of fact, at the Saturday night Harlem Globetrotter game/exhibition (another great entertainment option) during Halftime… the NBA D League Frisco Franchise will officially announce the new team name. Good luck to Donnie Nelson (owner), Spud Webb (President of Basketball Operations) and the entire NBA D League Frisco Front Office. And Welcome to the neighborhood. Frisco looks forward to having you. Let’s make sure we support them.
Sincerely,
Hitch
Baseball, Live Music, Soccer & More…
Lots of great stuff going on in Frisco this weekend (remember: Weekend’s officially start on Thursday in Frisco:) Update your blackberry calendar…
On Thursday, Live Music continues at Lochrann’s Originals… From what I’m told, it’s a great line up this Thursday including their first National Recording artist Mike Hererra (of MXPX) and his new rock/country/americana sound. They also have emerging singer-songwriter Cory Branan who is getting a lot of national attention. You won’t want to miss this great night of live music.
Also, on Thursday; it’s the Home Opener for the Frisco Roughriders at Dr Pepper Ballpark. If you can’t make it out Thursday, check out the Roughriders schedule at www.ridersbaseball.com to find a game to take the whole family out to. It’s a great night of inexpensive family fun entertainment.
Then, Friday it’s Frisco NBA D-League Charity basketball event at Dr Pepper Arena to benefit the Guns & Hoses Foundation of DFW. Come out to watch the Firefighters take on the Cops in what promises to be a spirited game to benefit a great cause (the families of fallen police and fire men & women).
On Saturday, Major League Soccer action returns to Pizza Hut Park as FC Dallas takes on the Columbus Crew. For more information on tickets and special promotions, visit www.fcdallas.com.
Sounds like we have plenty of quality sports & entertainment in Frisco this weekend. Have fun…
Sincerely,
Hitch
Just a short drive away…
With my business Playbook Management International (www.playbookmanagement.com), I have a cool opportunity to travel all over the country and the world; working with a variety of sports & entertainment clients and projects. I have 5 Biz Trips in a 15 day period. The first trip is in the books; I just returned from San Antonio. A lot of clients and colleagues like to follow my travels so I’ve created a PMI Travel Blog which is generating good website traffic, you can join me on my travels at http://www.playbookmanagement.com/_blog/PMI_Travel_Blog
In San Antonio, the world’s first Amusement Park for Special Needs individuals and families is going to open on Sat. April 10th featuring David Robinson and Eva Longoria as the emcee’s for the Opening Ceremonies. The Park is called Morgans Wonderland (www.morganswonderland.com) and I have the pleasure of working with Morgan’s Wonderland (”MW”) and STAR Soccer Complex that is adjacent to MW. It is the most amazing project. Everything at MW has been custom made with Special Needs individuals in mind. Check out their website for more info but if you have a Special Needs child or know someone with Special Needs, share this info. It’s a short drive from Frisco and always a great trip to San Antonio plus it will be a life changing experience for everyone who walks through the gates. You may have heard about MW when it was featured by Diane Sawyers on the ABC National News. If not, you’ll hear about it soon. Thanks for checking in.
Sincerely,
Hitch
Very Cool Event at Dr Pepper Arena

GAME TO BE PLAYED ON 2010 NBA ALL-STAR COURT FRISCO, March 24, 2010 – Sparks will fly in the first-ever Battle of the Badges Basketball game! Police and Firefighter All-Star basketball teams lock horns on Friday, April 9 at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. Cheer on our heroes as they play on the same court used at Cowboy Stadium in this year’s NBA All-Star Game! For more info go to http://www.nba.com/dleague/frisco/texasheros.html
Weekend gets started tonight at Lochrann’s with their Weekly Lochrann’s Original’s Music Series featuring Live Music. Unfortunately for me, I’m in San Antonio for business so I won’t be able to attend but last week was a blast and I encourage everyone to go out and enjoy great live local music. Also, this weekend: Dallas Cup wraps up with their Championship games in Pizza Hut Park’s Stadium.
Have a great weekend. Thanks for checking in.

More Entertainment Options coming to Frisco
Not sure if you saw this but it was announced that Cinemark is building a movie theater at Frisco Square. Great news for Frisco and the “Center of Frisco”. Frisco Square is becoming a sports & entertainment destination in Frisco with PHP, Restaurants, Bars, a recently opened Cigar Lounge and now a 12 screen movie theater. Great stuff for everyone! And I’m confident that this location will do quite well. The movie theater experience has come a long way in a short period of time (HD, 3d, enhanced sound quality) and directly competes with all entertainment options for peoples time and their entertainment dollars. I think we’re getting spoiled in Frisco, having so many great entertainment options in our front and back yard. What’s next a Concert Venue? Thanks for checking in.
Sincerely,
Hitch
