Habitat gala raises awareness and funding to eliminate poverty housing

Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County will host its 7th Annual Building Foundations Building Lives Gala & Casino Night at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Frisco on March 6, 2010.  Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the evening will include a reception, gourmet dinner, a live and silent auction, and casino tables.  Funds raised during the event will be used to support the continued work of the affiliate to build decent, affordable homes for deserving, hard-working families in South Collin County.

Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County (HfH-SCC) recently broke ground on its 50th home since its inception in South Collin County in 1997.  The lives of 197 family members, including 127 children, have been dramatically improved through the positive effects of home ownership.  These homeowners have made a positive difference in our community by working in our schools, our hospitals, our churches, and our local businesses.  Habitat for Humanity’s zero interest mortgages made it possible for them to afford to live in the same community where they work.  The lack of affordable workforce housing in South Collin County has reached crisis levels and HfH-SCC’s mission is to remedy this housing crisis in our community.
