Business Chassis – Part 1 of 5

So, have you figured out what the 5 key parts of your Business Chassis are?  Remember, I mentioned that every business is built on the same chassis – but some are built for high performance while others are not.  It is critical that you know and understand how the 5 parts of the business chassis work and why they are so important.

Part 1 of the 5 is Lead Generation.  Every business generates leads for their business.  Some do it purposefully, others just hope it happens.  This is the life blood of a business – the constant and continuous infusion of new prospects who are potential customers.

Lead Generation is not easy, nor is it necessarily cheap.  Often times, it is quite pricy to find leads that you can put into your sales process.  But here is a good strategy to use when doing Lead Generation:  Build yourself a 10 x 10 Marketing Plan.

The first step is to identify 10 specific strategies you will use to generate leads for your business.  Strategies like networking groups, chamber membership, direct mail, telemarketing, etc.  Then allocate 10% of your budget for marketing to each of these strategies.  This gives you a 10 x 10 Marketing Plan.

Now, the key is to MEASURE each of the marketing strategies to determine which give you a better return.  Based on these measurements, you can re-allocate your budget to get the best bang for your buck.  Kill the ideas that give you no return and double-up on those that provide good lead generation results.

Effectively managing your Lead Generation is the first key to having a high-performance Business Chassis.  Need some ideas or more detail, give me a call or respond to this post and we’ll go into more detail.

Good luck!

What kind of Car is YOUR Business?

Did you know that some very different cars are built on the same chassis?  For example, the chassis of a Volkswagen Beetle is the same as that of a Porche 911.  And the chassis of a Ford Taurus is the same as that of a Jaguar XJE.

While the chassis is the same, what they do with the chassis makes all the difference in the world on how well the car performs, how fast it goes, and how expensive it is to buy!  Would you believe that the same is true for all businesses?

That’s right, all businesses are built on the same chassis.  But what the business owners does with that chassis is what makes all the difference.  whether the business is high-performing, fast-growing and a valuable asset or whether it is so-so, struggles to grow and would likely be closed rather than sold.

There are 5 parts to the chassis of every business.  And it is critical that business owners both know and understand the power that comes from focusing on these 5 critical areas of the business.

If you know the 5 parts of the business chassis, then post them here.  If you don’t check back and I’ll be posting them in detail, one at a time, so you can begin building the car you want for your business.

So which kind of car DO you want your business to be  built like?  A Porche or a VW?  A Taurus or a Jaguar?
